The UV ink-jet varnishing machine is suitable for creating glossy spots on matt laminated sheets and various varnish effects not only on matt, but also glossy laminate. The resulting layers are achieved through multi-pass printing prior to curing.
Registration is achieved “on the fly”, i.e. without stopping the sheet using I2IR technology (Image to Image Registration) which involves registration of the print onto printed sheet without print data deformation. Eventual registration corrections are achieved through adjustment and movement of the position of the ink-jet heads.
A ball feeder is part of the registration system, whose function is only to bring the sheet to its initial position for camera reading of the registration mark.
The machine prints using 8 ink-jet heads with a resolution of 360 dpi. The thickness of the applied layer is determined by the given resolution as well as the print data. The resolution is variable in the belt movement direction and can be set using buttons with 4 presets (3 preset values + 1 arbitrary value).
The resulting layers are achieved through multi-pass printing prior to curing performed by the patented vacuum belt moving backwards and forwards under the ink-jet heads. The maximum number of passes is 8; in the case of “two-way” printing when the belt is moving forwards and backwards the maximum value is 7.
